DEEP 88 / The Girl Who Hates 909 / Juice

Test Pressing, Review, Dr Rob, Deep88, Berlin, Italy, 12Records, Juice Records, The Girl Who Hates 909

An E.P. with the air of something independent, and House, from the NYC of the early to mid-90s, dominated by a 909 kick and dedicated to the lovely young lady who lived in the apartment below Deep 88`s Berlin Studio, and would come up to complain every time said machine was switched on.

There`s a near perfect copy of Wayne Gardiner`s Strictly Rhythm classic, “The Warning”, with added 303, and syncopated high-hats accompanying “Can You Feel It?” bass-lines. That Deee-Lite sample source has also been tracked down (my money was on Ken Nordine) to ask the second eternal question over a suitably reflective backing.

The girl, she moved out.

The promo was inspired by those turntables in the Ca` Del Liscio DJ Parade 1986 video.
