The result obviously rested on the emotive issue of immigration. Who will offer safe haven to all those displaced from their homes by war and hatred?
I`m no expert on immigration, politics, or economics. But I do know that hatred is born of fear. That fear is simply a reflection of one`s own insecurities. This is universal.
I know that insecurities can be exploited. I know that blame is no solution.
I also know that seven days after a young woman was murdered for her advocacy of the rights of refugees the majority of British people voted for the policies of a man who posed in front of a piece of recreated Nazi propaganda, and that the Nation has effectively removed a watchdog from its government`s decision making.
I know it`s complicated but I do feel sad and ashamed.
