Test Pressing

Oliver / Absurd Recordings / Acid Test

Where are you from?

Born and raised in Torquay, moved to California in 89′

Where are you based?

Los Angeles

What made you start?

I always loved the 303 sounds of the LA warehouse parties, I was quite fond of Jeno and was hooked on his “Inside The Mind” mix tape as a teenager.  I had been contemplating doing a label based on Acid and I had been in touch with Johannes (Tin Man). He’d been sending me a lot of sketches and when he sent me “Nonneo” I knew it was the start of something.

What makes you continue?

I’m working with a close group of really talented artists who keep sending me great music.

How would you describe your sound?

All spectrums of the 303.

Where is your favourite place to play / party / other?

My favourite place to play records is at my house.  Unfortunately L.A. has been lacking quality sound systems, so I don’t make it out here too often.  That said, Saracastic, Machine and States of Being all put on a good party with quality sound/talent.  I spent a bit of time in Berlin last summer. We hosted a label night at Panorama Bar so that was a favourite.  These days I spend most of my free time away from Amoeba with family and enjoying the beach with my dogs.

What are you most proud of?

Getting Pepe Bradock into the studio to make Acid tracks.  Watching him work was such an inspiration. He’s a solid guy.

Who are you working with?

Tin Man, Achterbahn D’ Amour, Pepe Bradock, Donato Dozzy, Joey Anderson, Recondite

What are your plans for 2014?

There is a remix E.P. from the ‘Odd Movements’ album from Achterbahn D’Amour, and another album from Tin Man.  I`m hoping to finalize some thing for my Avenue 66 imprint for the Fall as well.
