Test Pressing

Playlist / October 2015 / Funk, Reggae, Soul Reissues

As an addendum to the “Round-Up” mixes posted yesterday here`s my pick of last month`s African, Brazilian, Funk, Reggae, and Soul reissues: where all my money goes . Perhaps we need to revive the "On The Rebound" feature?

Johnny Adams / Feel The Beat, Feel The Heat / Soul Jazz

Leroy Hutson / I Think I`m Falling In Love / Athens Of The North
Never fails to set my heart dancing. If I ever get round to one of those “Balearic Soul” things again, you can be sure this`ll be on it.

Second Resurrection / You Done Let The Daylight Catch You / Athens Of The North

Novos Baianos / Acabou Chorare / Mr Bongo
Every home should have one. A whole range of “Tropicalia” styles present. Every track is wonderful.

Gino Parks / Fire / Jukebox Jam

Mary Afi Usuah / Ekpenyong Abasi ‎ / Voodoo Funk
This disappeared in a blink but Frank at Voodoo Funk assures me a repress is on the way, you`ve just got to wait for the pressing plants to clear those Beatles Christmas box sets.

Honey & The Bees / Love Addict / Killer Cuts
Huge huge track.

Lee Perry / Chim Cheri Rock / Pressure Sounds
Particularly the cut with Augustus Pablo`s son, Addis, on melodica.

Robert Ffrench / Mr. Babylon / Black Solidarity
One for the “Balearic Reggae” pile.

GT Moore / Jerusalem / Partial
Old Weatherall favourite that was previously released on an LP under the alias of The Outsider. Nice to have on a 7 with the version on the flip.

Tommy McCook / The Sannic Sounds Of / Dub Store
Like the Novos Baianos LP, every track on this is brilliant.

The Revolutionaires / Musical Dub Attack / Well Charge
One of the first Dub LPs from 1976. Reissued for the first time.

Restriction / Action / Bristol Archive
`80s Brixton session with Mad Professor on the mix, with some crazy dubs.

*If any of the labels included here would like to add us to their promo list, that would be lovely.
