Musashi / Eiji Yoshikawa (吉川 英治)
Eiji Yoshikawa worked his way up from Yokohama docks to newspaper man to historical novelist, receiving the Cultural Order Of Merit, the Order of the Sacred Treasure and the Mainichi Art Award. Much of his writing served to revive ancient Japanese texts, to make them more accessible and so popularize them and in turn preserve Japanese history in the minds of the country`s people.
“Musashi” is a 900 page document on the life and adventures of Japan`s most famous swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, himself the writer of the often cited “The Book Of Five Rings”, where a search for perfection in swordsmanship and in consciousness, via strategy, tactics, and philosophy, moves through Earth, Water, Fire, Wind and Void. His revolutionary two-sword technique, Ni Ten Ichi Ryu, has inspired many, including Photek:
