Esquire
Rican Salsa - The Hot Sauce Of The Seventies

Words by Apiento

Here's a spread from US Esquire in September 1975 by Jean Paul-Goude and Pierre Houles on the sound of Rican Salsa. Tito Puente, Joe Bataan and the future appear (including Willie Colon of ultimate loft record (and one of my favourite productions) 'Set Fire To Me') alongside an early showing of Goude's inimitable style.

[Note: Not sure why one of the spreads came out smaller. #photoshopidiot]
