This seemed hard. Harder than it should have been. Maybe I didn`t listen to that many LPs this year, as guilty as most in these days of availability and ease of skimming and cherry picking the odd track.

Maybe my “cover” as a “DJ”, the excuse I give myself for my continuing vinyl habit (as long as I`m booked to play somewhere, even if it`s only a bar that holds 20, once a month, then I can keep going) lends my buying and listening more to singles, but I reckon we`ll get to that.

If I set the criteria as “albums that I listened to as a whole repeatedly and in my opinion were consistent throughout” then I`d have: Steaua De Mare, Musiccargo, Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba, Tropic Of Cancer, Poppy Ackroyd, Mop Mop, Almunia(for the incredible guitar playing), and Domencio. Probably in that order.

Jonny Nash`s Snaker and Blludd Relations both promise genius. Oneohtrix Point Never had some nice tunes, in places recalling the compositions of Wim Mertens and Wally Badarou, that he felt compelled to fuck with. I think I must be on the wrong drugs and too old. The new school of referencing the `80s, making something pretty, then cutting it up Burroughs-like and juxtaposing the chunks to make an awkward future Funk, a school that could also include Max D, Protect-U, and Niagra, can sometimes leave me cold, but I do also understand that there is little point in remaking an Art Of Noise record.

There was half of the Roland Young on EM. Snow Palms on Village Green was pleasant. If I had to pick one it would be “White Sea”. The Liminanas weren`t doing anything new, but you can expect to hear “Liverpool” on The Remedy sometime soon.

The compilation of new music would have to be “Musik For Autobahns” put together by Gerd at Running Back for Rush Hour, which had me confused as to where to put it, since the CD came out at the end last year, but the two doses of vinyl only appeared this. I guess we`ll just have to wait for long players from Young Marco and Suzanne Kraft.

The Live LP could only be Goat.
