Andy Sims
The Shanklin Sessions
Cynic

Words by Piers Harrison

WHO is your favourite Soft Rock? Andy Sims has done a Geri and flown the coop with a fledgling release on Felix Dickinson’s Cynic Records.

A-side ‘Acid Jan’ (good mate of mine) found its way into many of Felix’s festival sets over the last few years, so it only seemed fitting that he shared the love with the general public. Starting life as a re-edit with added instrumentation from Brighton's Larry Heard - Jaime Read - it’s a bouncing proto-house / acid groover, gently dubbed for her satisfaction. The tasteful and spacious production resulting in a timeless and timely feel. Yes I.

Flip side ‘Sitars over Shanklin’ comes off like a lost new beat jam. The eponymous sitars riding a heavy beat and hypnotic bass pulse. Pair with ‘We are all Egyptians’ for deep joy - this is serious deep dancefloor gear. Get them locked in!

Wicked, wicked two tracker from Mr Sims. Looking forward to hearing more!

'The Shanklin Sessions' is out April 1st on Cynic Records.
