LA's Benedek has been around for a minute dropping tripped out, fuzzy boogie / house cuts. An early 7" featured the dude Dãm FunK on vocals and he's released with Tom Noble and for PPU. This, his first release for Music From Memory's more dance-floor oriented sub-label Second Circle, finds him ploughing a slightly different furrow.

In its original mix Sub Terra is all euphoric forward movement - soaring trumpets, plump bass, DMX drums, heartstring tugging chord progressions. Deeply, deeply vibey. The spacier, Uplift mix coasts on rising pads taking you onwards and upwards. He's calling it 'balearic funk' and, to me, that feels like he's nailed it nicely.
