There`s nothing fancy here. No frills. Primitive bass and drums solidly back Rockabilly twang. No reverb. No overdubs. Dry. Angular and tight. Sparse, efficient. Two years ago I asked Fat Cat`s Alex Knight for a Top Ten of live bands. Shopping were on that list.

NYC`s Mudd Club Punk Funk relocated to Hackney. A sound somewhere between Gramme and C86. The Shangri-las, via Megan Remy`s U.S. Girls, in London. ESG on Postcard. Short, sharp, urgent. For real. Manicured Noise (Check the excellent recent compilation on Caroline True, which you may hear more about when my copy arrives) if Hannett had got his hands on them. The Clash and Strummer`s curled-lip delivery. Shellac if they weren`t all geezers. Shopping combine these past references to create something if not exactly new (can Rock & Roll ever be new?) then resolutely of its time. Now.
