There is a brilliant interview / documentary with Brian Eno fro 1994 on YouTube where he discusses studio fx and "treatments" as he calls them. We would call them "versions" (in the Reggae style) but Eno has a way of elevating anything he is describing. There is also great footage of him using an Eventide Ultra Harmonizer.
