The almost Ambient “Night Walk” puts sparse drum accompaniment and loved-up Italian keys with birdsong and cicadas. “Cabin Blues” is Mood Hut`s Jazz of modulated drones, phased samples, bongos, and sirens. High and hallucinatory, as if the Canadian`s had remade Blaze`s “Moonwalk”. “Channel Affair” is House with Techno on its mind. Like a Lo-Fi “Forever Monna”, a grainy sort of seasick tone to the melodies. It`s from a tape, and a lost one at that, after all. It could almost be a (considerable) taming of UR`s “Star Dancer”, which I think Mark Seven also picked up on, since his “The Love I Lost” remix converts the track back into UR`s sample source, Mr Fingers` “Stars”. Mr. Seven adds Marshall Jefferson-like words of reassurance, flashes of “Dub Love”, and a Chicago-wanting-to-be-Italo bass-line. The overall effect possessing the sexual urgency of anything by Jamie & Frankie. Bad Boys waiting on angels.

“The Lost Tape” on Parkwest is in shops today. The best place to listen and buy is probably over at Juno.
