Multimedia artist Doug Aitken has set out to find the answer and has filmed interviews and collated these into a quite amazing website. Those interviews include Beck, James Turrell (hero), Jack White, Tilda Swinton and artist Mike Kelley.

The project is part of the Sky Arts Ignition Series, a new initiative which will see Sky Arts partner with six leading arts organisations to invest directly in the creation of new groundbreaking art works, events and performances.
