Leaves have actually begun to fall, but somehow the summer hangs on by its ever more jagged fingernails, eeking out the warm feelings and general good vibrations for as long as physically possible. Every season needs a soundtrack, and what better to accompany a late burst of solar energy than the latest from the Discotecas bods.
Four (count ‘em) delicious slices of amped up disco inflected niceness that are guaranteed to bring a smile to the face and movement to the hips. A side action is a combination of ‘Jellied Feels’, a chic little number with a nod to the floors of New York with a suitably squelchy Euro undercurrent that’s tailed with ‘Love Action’, a fascinatingly funked up slice of smile music.
While Side A brings the vocals to the fore, the word was the B was where the dub action was, so expectations were high. Fortunately for all concerned, the quality remains. ‘Early Riser’ storms the ear with lazers, building horns, swirling arpeggios, synth stabs, kitchen sink territory and why not? It’s pure end of the night tackle for that dancefloor. ‘Shoulda Known’ takes a more tracky approach with driving bongos and a breakdown that sets up the climatic electronic wig out conclusion. Yes ‘Tecas, don’t let summer go just yet.
