Oi oi. Disco's back and its banging. Well it never went away really did it but this is all about jacking disco for the 2024 dancefloor. We’re going to skip the Absolutely Shit mix here and leave that one and focus on the ones that are really hitting home with us. Let’s start with the ‘Club Mix’ which came out a while back. It’s a chunky drums disco record with a top piano break, nice vocals, wicked stabs, all resulting in a track made for nightclubs of all nations. Big tune. And it's back for more...
Piers Harrison and Brian Not Brian have done totally the right thing and got the parts and made it into a full pelt disco record of the highest order. They’ve delivered two mixes, one is slightly shorter and less wigged out than the other one. They take the track, jack it up and add disco drums and FX straight of the dub desk. Metallic noises ring out and I am sure they won’t mind admitting they took the Idjuts / Mang template and made it CLUB (caps intentional).
The first few minutes of their first mix are based around building grooves before dubbed out bass licks roll around before that arms in the air piano kicks in… A loose arrangement keeps things fluid... A little breakdown and we’re off again… You remember that Kramer Dashwood record (love to Ashley!) we all went nuts about this feels like that with the edits and breaks moving all round the house. It’s a perennial keeper. One of those tracks you keep for when it's time to push the button on the dancefloor. Top work chaps. The ‘Extended Dub’ goes further out and get both on the deck and you’ll have hours of fun making your own dub house disco set.
Both mixes are killer and it’s hard to choose. Here’s to Brian and Piers getting a keyboard player on board and getting busy making more like this as they both know why and how records need to sound. Props.
The video and the track are unavailable to stream so here's Kramer Dashwood instead.
You can pick this one up soon on the RÜF KUTZ BANDCAMP. Bosh.
