Munich based label, Jazz & Milk, start their 10th anniversary celebrations with Vienna`s Sam Iri, whose Electronic-tinged, Jazz-inflected House, mixes King Street with Young Marco, sounding like one of the Idjut Boys more trance-y efforts on less weed. Sticking with Vienna, young chaps Mieux combine percussion a la Kevin Yost`s Santana-sampling “One Starry Night” with metallic banging that wants to be a brass fanfare and spirals of Steve Reich counterpoint. Think Mark Barrott`s “Cirrus & Cumulus” spun at 45. A hypnotic, joyful noise. Label founder Dusty does beatdown with blurred chords, vaporized vocals and depthcharged bongo rolls. A vibe not unlike the “Garage” of Weatherall`s Bloodsugar early doors making friends (again) with Jus` Trax. Closing in Hollywood, The Angel City All Star Brass Band with Todd Simon on flügelhorn and Alan Lightner on steel pans, do an island version of “Mas Que Nada” .
