Test Pressing

452 / Cedric Bardawil & Teorema / A Night At Salon Des Amateurs

I received this mix recently from Cedric and it seemed perfect for Test Pressing. A three and a half hour journey along the lines of the ‘Night At Beauty & The Beat’ mix we posted a while back. I asked Cedric for some words on it and he perfectly explained the context.

“Teorema spontaneously invited me over to Düsseldorf to play at Salon des Amateurs last month. Actually the story goes: we met at a friend’s wedding the weekend before the gig and clicked: “Why don’t you come over and play with me next Saturday?” I said yes without hesitation but that I needed to check a few things first. Teorema has been hosting nights at Salon des Amateurs since 2006, with guests including: Mark Seven, Antal, Invisible City, Ron Morelli, Jamie Tiller, John Gomez, Alex Voices, Chris Kontos, Vidal Benjamin. We both share a similar approach to music, with a lot of crossover in our influences. I’d also previously invited Chris Kontos, Jamie Tiller and John Gomez to play in London, plus had guests we both admire including Red Greg, Patrick Forge, Tako at the ‘Soul Time’ night I’ve been hosting at Brilliant Corners (and abroad) since 2014. The night came, we had a bottle of mezcal and a few bags of records. We had fun and more importantly got people into the soulful records we played. Hope you enjoy listening back! Cedric”
