Private Agenda
International Feel
“Little Bird” is the Balearic by “mistake”, the Balearic of necessity, that of pre-internet South American, Spanish, and Italian DJs having to find enough records to fill a seven nights a week play-list and fill Ibiza`s competing clubs and bars. Johnny Hates Jazz, Brother Beyond, Nick Kamen, Living In A Box, Babakoto. Just to get by.
Mark Barrott calls Private Agenda International Feel`s “Marmite Band” and I have to admit that I struggle a bit. Such an accurate `80s Pop pastiche would have been readily accepted as a “Cockney Cover-Up” in `88, but then a whole lot of shit used to get spun when music in general was far less abundant / available (of course the hypocrisy of this is that if Weatherall or Alfredo had played it way back when then I would absolutely NEED to have a copy. My shelves are full of similar “obscurities”. Pop is what I do). I skipped their first 12, “Déjà Vu” but once again will hold my hands up and confess that when I heard the track loud in a Tokyo club it sounded it great. It`s just that sometimes, to my ears, Private Agenda dance dangerously close to D:Ream. “Paralysed” here mixes that up with “Adventure Party”.
