We thought it'd be good to follow the journey of Public House Hi-Fi and the crew and see how things go. First up... This is what their sound system consists of...

MIDS - Altec A7 (known as the 'Voice of the Theatre')

A classic in pro engineering. Originally built for cinema, the A7 combines a large–format horn and 15–inch bass driver to deliver exceptional clarity and punch, even at lower volumes. With a frequency range extending from 30 Hz to 22 kHz, and an efficiency that reaches 103 dB, this speaker fills and space with rich, authentic sound. HORNS – Altec 1505B Horn

Our multi-cellular horns are designed for wide dispersion and smooth high-frequency response. With their 15-cell structure, the 1505B provides exceptional coverage and a natural sound profile across a broad range, fro 30 Hz up to 15 kHz. Known for delivering consistent clarity and minimal distortion, even at high SPLs (sound pressure levels expressed in decibels or dBs), this horn was engineered for venues needing powerful, articulate sound. The 1505B Horn ensures immersive, detailed highs that reach every corner of the space.

HORN DRIVERS – TAD TD4001 Compression Driver

The TAD 4001 Compression Driver is considered a standout choice for audiophiles and professionals. With its impressive frequency range of 500 Hz to 20 kHz and sensitivity of 108 dB/W/m (this specification means that the volume at a distance of 1 metre from the speaker and a power input of 1 watt is 108 decibels). It delivers exceptional clarity and detail. Built with a durable titanium diaphragm, this driver minimises distortion, ensuring a high-end experience.

HIGHS – TAD PT–R7A Super Tweeter

These tweeters are designed to bring out the finest high–frequency details. Covering an impressive range up to 120 kHz with a sensitivity of 90 dB/W/m, this super tweeter enhances clarity and adds depth to the set up. Crafted for both high-end home systems and studio use, the PT–R7A's ribbon diaphragm ensures precise, natural sound reproduction, making it an essential addition for high–frequency performance.

LOWS – TAD 1601 Woofers

These are our choice for delivering, powerful, dynamic bass. With a wide frequency range extending down to 20 Hz and a sensitivity of 97 dB/W/m, these 15–inch woofers with a precision–crafted cone and a sturdy frame, bring depth and impact to our bottom end. Housed in custom built cabinets built by the Public Hi–Fi crew with ports tuned to 35 Hz for a tight but articulate bass.

AMPLIFICATION – Denon P0A–4400A

This monoblock amplifier is a high–performance powerhouse designed for pure, detailed sound. Delivering 150 watts of clean, stable power, this amplifier excels in both dynamic and accuracy.
