It's Friday night. Wait, maybe it's Sunday afternoon. Heck, it might be 6 AM by the seaside. You're on the dancefloor. The sound system is pristine. The crowd is locked into one of those flow states, and the DJ simply isn't missing. A squelchy, synthy bassline bubbles up, accompanied by one of those shuffling grooves that creeps up on you. After a minute, a sultry voice starts murmuring in Spanish, before offering a simple refrain, "Drums are dangerous!" By this stage, you're practically levitating as you get your steps off to 'Drums Are Dangerous' (Original Mix), the latest floaty banger from the Trans-Tasman New Zealand production/DJ duo Eden Burns & Christopher Tubbs.
When you get home and look 'Drums Are Dangerous' up, you find out it's the first track on Tubbs & Burns' EP, "Tubbs & Burns IV", once again released by the great folks at Public Possession. Elsewhere on the EP, you find a sparkly remix of 'Drums Are Dangerous', subtitled Heads Down Dub, the Todd Modes Full Moon Mix, which sounds like someone took The Neptunes to the right sunset beach party, before chucking them in the studio and an inspired flip of the duo's anthem 'Where Were U In 92?' reimagined by their good buddy from Christchurch, New Zealand, Colter Carson of Craigslist Sound System. There's only a few copies of the 12" left on Bandcamp, so you click "Buy Vinyl". Life is good.
