I was hooked by “Yacha”, a damn fine approximation of the sound of Grace Jones at Compass point, with an air of Jackie Mittoo, via The Specials in the organ solos, and their “Ghost Town” in the vocals. “Hold Tight” is ponderous Rock with a whack of a big beat and a heavy bass line. “Galley Boys” has Dennis Wilson take his Hawaiian guitar, tune in and drop out at The Black Ark (a lot like Bill Callahan`s “Have Fun With God”) but “How We Be” has ended up the track on repeat. Think the Jurrasic Five doing “Whole Lotta Love” (or rather Hot R.S.`s “Slow Blow”) over a “Masimba Bele” riddim pitched down to -6.
